# Windows Shortcuts
I use shortcuts every day. They have changed my keyboard and trackpad experience. From easier Windows navigation to working with text, shortcuts can make your PC life much smoother.
## General Windows Navigation
\[Win + , ] Preview the desktop
\[Win + Tab] Show all open apps
\[Ctrl + Win + Right/Left Arrow] Switch Desktop
\[Ctrl + Win + Up/Down Arrow] Maximize/Minimize tab
\[Win + Up/Down/Right/Left Arrow] Split-screen navigation
## Web Browser
\[Ctrl + Shift + T] Reopen closed tabs
\[Alt + Right/Left Arrow] Forward/Back Pages
\[Ctrl + R] Refresh page
\[Ctrl + T] Open new tab
\[Ctrl + W] Close current tab
\[Ctrl + Tab] Switch to next tab
\[Ctrl + Shift + Tab] Switch to previous tab
## Trackpad
\[2 Finger, Swipe Left/Right] Forward/Backward Page
\[2 Finger, Tap] Right click equivalent
\[3 Finger, Swipe Left/Right] Switch tab
\[3 Finger, Swipe Up] Show all open tabs
\[3 Finger, Swipe Down] Close all open tabs
\[3 Finger, Tap] Open Start
\[4 Finger, Swipe Left/Right] Switch Desktops
\[4 Finger, Tap] Open notification (Windows 10)
Custom: *Highly recommend* (For Windows 10, 11 works too, but may be slightly different)
Settings > Home > Touchpad > Advanced Gesture Configuration
Under “Configure your four finger gestures”
Set ‘Up’ to Maximize a window – Set ‘Down’ to Minimize a window
Instead of having to click the Maximize/minimize square, just swipe up or down with 4 fingers
## Others
\[Win + .] Emoji keyboard (useful for cleaner note-taking)
\[Win + v] Clipboard (for copy/paste)
\[Fn + Esc] Turn on alternate buttons on keyboard and turn off Function Keys (if compatible)
\[Win + Shift + S] Screenshot selection
\[Alt + F4] Turn on Maximum Performance Power Plan (one in Control Panel)
